The obvious answer is, find a nice set of used stock springs.
Heck, there are plenty here in the States if you can't find them.
If you want to lower the car, Eibachs are a good choice.
I haven't heard good things about H&R lately.

Agreed that the dealer prices are overinflated, seems to be a common
malady.  There's no reason I can get some parts with the VW logo
on them at 1/2 to 1/3 the cost at the dealer.
