Check Engine Light Hell.....

To: depolom68
Mike,
First, take a deep breath, brother. Second, you seem to have forgotten one
little piece of information... what's the code, man?! The check engine light
is telling you SOMETHING. What is it?

I'll roll the dice... Bad 02 sensor?

Subject: Check Engine Light Hell.....

I am totally confused. I bought my 89' 200tq two years ago and the check
engine light has been coming on that entire time. I had the knock sensor
retorqued, leads checked, everything!!!! I finally decided to get a new
one and it took months to get it ( I ordered from somewhere not
realizing it was on back order, and they sent me the wrong one first
(which was also on backorder)). After my months of waiting I finally had
it installed today. The car drove home better than ever! No check engine
light and all of this power I've never felt before! It was like a dream
come true. I got back in the car to go somewhere and the damn light is
back on again, same as always!!! It comes on whenever the throttle is
down 3/4 of the way. It doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold,
above or below 3000 RPM, under load, anything. Even while I'm parked and
step on the gas more than 3/4 of the way it comes on. Someone please
help me!!! I'm at the end of my rope. Five mechanics, two knock sensors,
mega $$$$$$ on gas getting such good mileage=this car is going up for
sale if I can't get this figured out by next week. It's not my first
quattro and I've been understanding and patient all of my years of audi
ownership; but this car is about to push me over the edge. Feeling the
way it drove on the way home is the only thing that's keeping me hanging
in there. I hope that someone can please help me ( I have checked
manifold ground and air temp sensor as well).
