RE: Which Quattro to buy?

i have owned 2 ur-quattros. the 1st was an '85 wr (similar to the us-spec)
and the current one an '90 rr (never made it to the usa).

quite frankly you should not buy an ur-quattro, especially an early one,
unless you have: -
1.	significant financial resources (lets say $us3k/year for
maintenance, depending upon the quality of the initial purchase)
2.	a passion for the cars
3.	the ready availability of excellent mechanical resources, or you
yourself are suitably qualified.

the later (non-usa) ur-quattros are a different beast, a different and
better driving and ownership experience, and somewhat cheaper to maintain.
for example in the 2.5 years that i've owned the 1990, i have replaced the
tyres, undertaken the annual maintenance (all expected, usual expenses), and
have replaced the suspension bushes and "blue-printed" the brakes. that's
all. a total of about $us1k/year all up. all on a vehicle worth about
$us35k.

the 1985 though cost me a partial engine re-build, exhaust manifold repair,
the odd breakdown and similar. over the 3 years that i owned it, you have
the annual $us 3k sum. on a vehicle worth about $us18k (now $us10K). in
addition to this, with the wr ur-quattro i was simply repairing the car,
with the rr ur-qauttro, i have been improving the vehicle. there is a major
"ownership" difference here.

otoh, there are few vehicles which create such an intense driving experience
and reward the passion of the enthusiast. certainly nothing that audi has
done since. ttcq possible exception, as i'm waiting for my drive.

bottom line, if you're a student and the folding stuff is in short supply,
look elsewhere. or don't say that you haven't been warned....

I'm a 17 year old student and I want to buy an Audi.
	I know i want a turbo-quattro. First of all, did the Ur-quattro's
ever come to
the US(I'm thinking of the rare coupe's, i could be wrong) and how
much do
these run for now? basically i want to know what Audi to buy as a
first one,
	however i'd prefer the coupe.

	Thanks for the help
