On the wife's 95 A6, the oil temp does get off the baseline, but now much,
maybe to the next line (the first line is 60 deg C).  If the car is run
hard, or on the highway at high speeds it will get between the second (no
number, I assume 100 deg C) and the 130 deg C.  As my wife does not drive
hard, or on the interstate every day, I would also be curious if the gauge
is off kilter or if this is normal.  It has worried me that on my wife's
commute it usually does not reach 100 deg C and for obvious reasons I want
to make sure her oil is at the proper temp to rid the crankcase of moisture.
