Wow 96k miles on a "96 4KQ!  You like to drive! <g>

Preventative replacement is always a great idea when it comes to 
timing belts.  It's pretty easy, and not that expensive.  I buy 
most of my parts from http://www.thepartsconnection.com, but you 
might want to check out http://www.audiquattroparts.com, because 
they have a package deal that includes everything you need for 
one (low?) price.

(I would replace a rubber timing belt every 50k, or sooner if 
water pumps are on sale)  (oh yeah, replace the water pump too)
