ABS Problem

Although I am new to the list, I purchased my 1987 5000S Quattro as a new
vehicle.  It currently has about 110K miles and runs well except for a nagging
ABS problem which my wrench can not find the cause of.  I have searched the
archives and before I take it to the Audi dealer, thought I would try the
list.  The ABS has stopped working and the light is on constantly.  My wrench
reports that the sensors are OK as is the "brain" which is under the back
seat.  The problem seemed to have started when he replaced the power steering
unit and although this could be coincidental, seem to recall that this takes
signals from the ABS sensors concerning the power assist.  Anyone have any
ideas they can share with me...help greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
