Re: A4 Wheels
And I run a set of A8 wheels on our '87 5ktq wagon too. However, the
wheels Tire Rack and Discount Tire are selling have a 35mm offset, not a
37mm offset.
"What?" you say, "Why that's only two mm we're talking about here. 2mm
CAN'T cause them to rub!"
To which I reply, "Heck, they rub at 37mm if everything is not just right."
When the tires were new AND it was the middle of winter (30-40 deg. F),
they didn't rub. Come spring and the tires are still mostly new, the
rubbing began under very hard cornering. So slight was the rubbing
however, that when the wheel was removed I couldn't even see the marks on
the inner liner. Clearance with a 37mm offset is that tight...
Again, the tires retailers are wrong.
