re: parking brake cable replacement
Hi Chris -- I just did this. I've been meaning to write up some status on
all my brake work (pads, rotors, ss-lines, fluid and e-brake cable), but I
keep running out of time.
Your 91 and my 89 tqw are probably close. Essentially, it's easy, but a
pain. There's very little room to work under the drive shaft. I made the
mistake of replacing my pads, _then_ trying to hook up the cable -- not much
in the way of slack, but I got it. I thought the routing would be a chore,
but it was easy. My E-brake springs, etc. were in good shape, but if you
have sticking, Osman/Igor's brake 101 posts last month cover workarounds.
BTW, I got my cable from Linda too. TPC said it was dealer-only,
1-800-VW-Parts had a good price ($20, but they only do COD and were on the
wrong coast). Linda came through for me. She got the part (Audi-VW part)
through one of her non-Audi suppliers for only $20 _delivered_ -- in two
days.
Good luck
