Hey Matt,

Same thing just happened to me after I had taken the dash apart a 1/2 dozen
times or so, dealing with a stopped odometer.  Finally got that working for a
good 2 or 3k miles than the clock dies!  I went to the junkyard and rather
than just grabbing 1 clock, I got 3 of them just in case.  The 1st one worked
(whew!) and now I have 2 backups.  I paid $20.  Not a bad deal... 

After that, my speedo cable starts making a whole lot of obnoxious noise.  I
took the dash apart again and sprayed the speedo cable (and sprayed some more
while driving) put it back together, and now it's a whole lot better, but not
perfect.  I'm like you, I like to fix things when they go south, otherwise you
end up w/a whole bunch of little things that need repair.
