What's up with this car?????

The neverending saga continues. 86 4KS. Unsmooth idle. Dips to 700 RPM & up to
1000 RPM upon De-clutching, revving at idle, etc. Sometimes once, sometimes
multiple up& down. Did the usual research as well as consulting list. When
looking for vacuum leak found a dangling plug with no home. Plug shares sheath
with cold start valve wires and hangs around WOT switch. Two wires one Brown,
other Green.
Was sure this was my prob until this morning. Drove 20 highway miles to work
(same as yesterday) but today after commute, idle became smooth. What's up
with this???????? BTW Car does idle smooth when cold which leads me to believe
cold start valve does mask the prob.

Can anyone help. Please oh wise listers, get me out of this state of
frustration.
