I would be suspicious of the Idle Stabilizer Valve(ISV).  I think the
connector you were seeing is the test connector to check the duty cycle and
does not actually connect to anything ( I am doing this from memory).  You
may want to try the cleaning methods located in the archives (basically
filling the ISV with a de-greaser, letting it sit and draining it).  
One way you might check the operation of the ISV is to pull the plug it and
see if the idle stabilizes (albeit high).
