It's been said that Audi uses noisy hydraulic lifters to let you know
that a normally quiet engine is actually running. . . If they're
rattling, they could be dry and pumping up.  if they stop rattling,
they're pumped up. if you're not using synthetic oil, add a quart of
Marvel when you do your oil change, the noise will go away.
