headlight trim removel - closure
Thanks to those of you who reponded to my question on the subject of the
headlight trim removal on my 90q. Yes, in order to replace the turnsignal,
one is supposed to remove the headlight assembly. To do that the trim piece
must be removed, via 4 inaccessible screws and two end retainers. To get to
the screws the bumber assembly must be removed. The Bentley is obtuse on
this point, but pushing down on the top of the bumber cover next to the
wheel while pulling out from the top releases one catch; the other is then
easier. Fortunatelyly I had a damaged bumber cover to look at (thanks
Chris) to determine what would work.
While in there I found missing fasteners from some PO's accident repair, and
broken parts on the headlight mounting assembly. These latter defects I was
able to compensate for by use of hot-melt glue. I was also able to take
some measurements related to my quest for a good solution to the turn-signal
problem when using two-bulb 90q eurolights. More on this in a future
message.
