UrQ Front Calipers

My front brakes ('85 UrQ) developed a BAD shimmy... identical to the warped
rotors it had when I first bought it. I dutifully bought new rotors
(Powerdiscs) and pads to go on it. Upon disassembly, both pads and rotors
looked great, but a guide pin was stuck. I removed it, cleaned out the hole,
polished the pin, relubricated it, and ressembled. No more shimmy.

I'll save the new parts for later. At the rate I'm piling on mileage (30k in
the last 14 months), I'll need them soon.

BTW, I was considering replacing the pin with one out of my spare set of
calipers bought from a lister almost a year ago. From an '83 UrQ. The
calipers looked very different (the earlier ones looked much more substantial
and were two pieces held together with bolts vs the lighter one-piece
construction of the newer ones.) The guide pins on the early ones were much
larger. However, both calipers took the same pads and the hydraulics
themselves looked identical. Is one set considered "better" than the other?
(I know, I need to upgrade to G60's.....)
