Snow Tire Comparison (according to a Hakka Dealer)
I visited Gesch Enterprises today (a wonderful SAAB independent here in
Milwaukee) to pick up an exhaust system for my wife's 900T. (Replacing all but
the cat...$375 for factory parts... the cat would have been another $1275)
They are an official dealer and carry both the HAK-1's and the NRW. (Both
studless thanks to strange WI laws...) I'm shopping for tires for the SAAB.
Mentioned I ran Eagle GW's on the UrQ; the guy said that due to my driving
style and the capabilities of the UrQ, I'd be very happy with the NRW on it.
However, since I live 50 miles out in the country, he _strongly_ recommended
the HAK-1's for the SAAB. Said while they were not as good on pavement as the
NRW, they were _significantly_ better in the snow and would provide a better
safety margin for my wife and the 900.
Since I told him price wasn't a primary consideration... and the HAK-1's were
$85 vs $100 (185/65/15) for the NRW's, I'm taking it as a valid recommendation.
Picking up a set early next week... and taking another look at that purple
Sonett III that was gracing their used car lot.... nicest one I've seen in
years....
