He should still call his insurance agent. If he has coverage on another
vehicle, it is possible that he is also covered on the new purchase. I've
been through this (not the wreck part!!) when buying new cars. My agent
(State Farm) says coverage is "automatic" when a car is purchased. There
is some time limit that you must go pay up though.
YMMV, things may be different on that side of the continent, but it is
worth the phone call.
