Also remember, in an AWD vehicle such as the quattro, don't fear the gas
pedel when the car gets slippery.  Perhaps this is a bit more than many are
comfortable with, but giving the car more gas in a slide will get you out of
trouble a lot faster that none at all.  Go out to a large, open, slippery
parking lot to try this out.  You will be very impressed with the "power
steer" charicteristics of this car.  Get comfortable with it...it is one of
the most fundamental techniques of winter driving with AWD.
