But i thought WOT switch was out of the cis circuitry during cranking? 
I think the lifting of the mass flow sensor increased the fuel.  i know
during the really lean times on my 4k before i got my o2 sensor problem
worked out, when i was running lean, holding the throttle open allowed
for easier starting.  like you say, who knows!  it's all smoke and
mirrors inside those little black boxes. ..
