re: Oil Leak in footwell

Peter asks:
"On another note, any idea how to get this stuff out of the carpets? Steam
cleaning seems to just smear it around the carpeting."

My vote is with Phil...the stuff in the carpet is brake fluid. So maybe
you do have both problems if the Dealer is also correct. If you spend a
large wad of cash having the dealer fix something that turns out to be
unrelated to the reason you took the car in...it won't be the first time.

Re: how to get the stuff out of the carpet...Good luck.
Sorry to say but my guess would be you'll have to replace it. Find a wreck
and swap the carpet out of it.

I once looked at a car for sale (86 4kq) where the front carpet was soaked
with brake fluid from a bad clutch MC. The owner just kept adding fluid to
the reservoir and throwing down thicker mats. Yuk!
