More Sonett; Le Car (No Q)
Not sure of the question... why would someone change a clutch outside at
0?
Because the soon-to-be-x-wife had all the other cars and the garage at
the time!
Or why cut the frame? To improve the removal process. Frame in: about
1/2
clearance. Frame out: good clearance.
Did I do it that way? Yes, I had the damn engine out so many times
(running
about 130hp in a car made for 70... clutches and transaxles had a short
half-life...
especially when auto-xing) that I made the frame section a bolt-in.
Le Car? Out of the 80 or so cars I've owned in my life, my LeCar holds
two
distinctions: Percentage wise, I lost more money on that car than any
other.
Second: It was the must unreliable car I've ever owned.
<<<after reading this...i have to ask why??? a)would you do it, and b)
did you
have to do it that way? btw my audi is still on blocks because my son
has
the tools spread all over the shop floor and i can't stand spending 20
mins
to find the tool i need. hopefully he'll finish working on his 'le car'
eventually.>>>>
>>Repair manual recommends that you also cut out a section
of the frame above the radiator and weld it back in when you're
re-installing the drivetrain.
BTDT many times, once outside at 0 degrees F.<<
