Re: FROZEN DOOR LOCKS
Hi Nick;
I had this problem with my '86 5ktq and solved it by liberally spraying
WD40 into all the lock cylinders every fall. I would then run the key in and
out several times and cycle the cylinder. The WD40 displaces the moisture in
the lock and I could go a whole winter without having the locks freeze up.
You have to do this with the temperature above freezing, of course.
You have to hold a rag or paper towel under the lock while you do this
to prevent a streak of WD40 from running down your door.
Thankfully, my '91 200q has heated locks, so freeze-ups are a thing of
the past.
