A typical Dee post ; )
Speaking of oil, (thanks to all who answered my oil filter question) this was
the latest at the dealership....
They were doing a promotion (they need to with their prices) and I had Baby in
for a "free" checkup. I got her back saying everything was fine (amazing). The
next day when I started her up the oil light came on (under the odometer). I
was in a panic. I had an oil change about 1500 miles prior, so this seemed
very strange. I shut the engine and checked the oil, it was under "max" on the
stick, and since I had just had her running I thought maybe it was really
lower then that so I added a quart, which she took. Then the next time I
started her up the light came on again. Every time I came out in the morning I
checked the oil before I started and it was over the "max" on the stick, but
the oil light kept coming on and still does in fact. This all took place at
Christmas naturally. I finally got a hold of the service manager last Monday,
the day before I was leaving for Florida. I repeated this story to him
and..........
He said, "When you first start the engine, it's normal for the oil light to
blink a few times and then go out."
I said "Normal? It has never done this before, not since I owned the car, I'm
sure I would have noticed."
He said, "Oh, it must have to be reset then.....bring it in and I'll have them
throw the computer on it again." (or something like that)
So the free checkup ends up being double aggravation, I love when that
happens!
Then I said, "Why did the car burn a quart of oil in just 1500 miles?
He said, "Well, since the oil light wasn't set properly, you really weren't a
quart under when you added the quart, you actually overfilled it...so figure
maybe you were down a half quart...that would mean a quart in 3000 miles, hey,
you're actually doing better than what's anticipated."
Why is it that I feel so used when these guys get done with me? Guess what
though, the dealership sent me a survey in the mail..."How are we doing?" I
guess I'm going to tell them.
Everyone enjoying the snow? Just rain, well poring rain, here in NJ...came
home from Florida a day early, I was afraid of getting stranded down
there...what was I thinking? Oh and that reminds me, I saw Ronin down there at
a $2 theater....glad that's all I spent on it. I loved seeing the S8 and the
car chases, but was there a point? Don't answer, we needn't cover ancient
history again, I know there were already a zillion posts on the movie when it
first came out, although I forget the general consensus.
One last thing, I got a radar detector for Christmas, its not a Valentine1
(disappointed) but I figure I don't speed that much so this should do me : )
May the Audi gods smile on all of you in 1999!
