Re: More Idling Weirdness
Your car has the Auto-Check system. Turn the Ignition on but do not start
the car. The OK light should light for 5 seconds. On the left side of the
instrument cluster, there are two pushable screw posts. One is for the
clock, the other is for the autocheck system. Push each one until you find
out which is which. When you press the correct one, the auto-check lights
will display in sequence (oil, water, lights, brakes, flashers, etc...),
ending with an OK. Turn the car off, press and hold the post and then turn
the ignition on, it should say 5?. 5 is for 5 cylinder cars, the ? is 1
for German speaking, 2 for US and 3 for non-German speaking countries (gas
engine). 4, 5 and 6 are the same order for diesel cars. The 5 would be
replaced with a 4 for 4-cylinder (non-Q) cars.
FYI, the important characters in our VIN and how Audi references them
(using mine as an example) are xxxxxx89xJx292xxx.
