Re: rear fog light/front fog
Okay, time for me to chime in.
I haven't had any aux lights on any of my Audis (3 CGT's, 5kcstq, 91
200qw) but I did have some Bosch _fog_ lights on my 83 GTI. I had them
to be able to see the edges of the road and curbs better. I had them
aimed very low. I realize most of the complaints I have read seem to be
about the total amount of light being thrown out in front of a car and
how it affects other drivers. My quandry is: those standard Bosch fogs
were not necessarily high output lights and I _did_ have them aimed very
low, maybe too low to be effective even as fogs. Is this _really_ what
various posters are complaining about?
I regularly bitch about oncoming traffic and the amount of dazzling
candle power they're projecting, but I have a hard time believing that
fog lights, mounted below the bumper, aimed very low, with standard
bulbs, would bother me as an oncoming driver.
I know there are a lot of different lights available, but I believe the
ones I had were very unobtrusive to oncoming traffic.
("Aimed low" means I could see the top of the pattern on the road about
30 feet in front of the car and each light was turned to the outside a
bit to aim the pattern to either side.)
