Quite a few years back my Father had a simular thing happen in his first Audi
('83 5000S)  He was in parking spot and after returning to the car it would
not move.He called me up to go pick him up .  When I got there I did a little
checking around and noticed that the right half shaft was spinning but the car
was not going anywhere.  Well Dad wanted to see this so he put it in park and
came for look.  When I put it in gear guess what,  The car moved.  I don't
know what caused it but a new half shaft fixed it.
