Windshield washer pump re&re

Looking for BTDTs on how to replace the windshield washer pump on a '88
80q. Going through Bentley was no help, rather simplistic in that area.
>From looking at the car and trying a couple of things, it looks like I have
to either:
1. remove the coolant expansion tank, the power steering fluid tank, and
the washer tank itself ... or
2. remove the grille, LF headlight, possibly the headlight surround to gain
access.

Is there an easier way? Even if I only get a probe into the connector to
check for voltage. I'm getting funny looks as I pull into gas stations,
clean the windshield, and drive off without refueling. 

Thanks in advance. BTW has anyone seen a good/complete wiring diagram for
the 80q?
