Coupe/ur-q boot lids

I made a discovery this week-end whilst parting out a nondescript Coupe GT of
the '86 vintage. Perhaps someone else can help sort the pieces.

This car in question had a lighter-than-average feel to the trunklid. After
hefting several hundred of the things, a *different* one comes as a surprise.
It had an obvious part stamp on it, 857-827-019B. Hmm, I thought, a tqc part?
It had the word fibron stamped near the part number. Hmmm. Fibreglass? I had
heard/seen of lightweight trunks on some '85 US spec ur-qs but believed them
to be quite rare. I know Glen's has it, but have seen several others without.

A check on two other generic coupe trunks revealed no visible part number
stamps for comparison. Furthur investigation on the donor coupe revealed it
had been hit hard enough in the tail to require a tail clip in a previous
life. Nothing else stood out on the car. I had it stashed in my shop and
studied up...

My fiche at home showed one trunk for the '83 ur-q, 855-827-023D. This off a
fiche spec'd for the '83. I checked a broader fiche(82-87 Coupe) and it listed
both the 855 number and my mystery 857 part. The 855 had a note "metal" whilst
the 857 had notes for both "plastic" and "CDN" with a vin break of
85-F-100301. Perhaps it was oem on some canadian coupes?

I pulled out the '82-87 ur-q fiche and it listed both numbers available with
the same notes about composition. It did not list a vin split, but there was
an asterisk next to the 857 p/n that I wasn't able to research. As an added
note, my dealer MSRP book lists the metal 855 lid as current at 653$ list, but
no listing for the lightweight.

That's where I stopped. Anybody have anything to add, or light to shed? A rare
bird to be sure, but oem on something. And is it fibreglass or plastic? How
many of our '85 owners have this "feature". Any coupe GT owners with an 857
trunk?
