What happens when you push the button for the remote locks, can you hear
the vacuum pump? Does it lock anything (i.e. the trunk)? When you pull
the handles (inside and outside) do you feel any kind of resistance, or
are they totally limp?

If the key spins freely in the cylinder from the outside (i.e. can make
a full 360) then it's possible that the lock clip is broken/loose; I
think that you'd have to take the window assembly off to get to that.
However your problem sounds pretty drastic so you should probably be
able to see it just by taking off the door trim. The inside and outside
door handles work differently, but it's still possible that the two have
the same problem.
