The 2-piece price of $800 includes some pretty fancy clamps, a stainless
accordion hose and other bits which provide the flex required to eliminate
cracking. It's a pretty nice looking item. Audi Dudi had a good picture on
his site for a while. I seriously doubt anyone will ever come up with a
better cast EM for the 10V turbo. Anyone considering moving beyond
this EM for performance reasons needs to be realistic about cost, technical
difficulty and reliability. $2000 strikes me as dirt cheap for a one-of-a-kind
stainless EM with any degree of quality and competent execution. I would
think $5000 would be more reasonable for the very first copy of a top
drawer part (otherwise, why bother?) That would represent maybe the biggest
part of one week of an expert's time and shop facilities. Before I did anything
of the kind, I would need to see some verification, such as a computer
simulation,
that it would be worth the effort. At that point, you scrap the KKK garbage
anyway. Then the CIS. Then ...
