manually lock early 83 UrQ diffs?

 hey all, quick question.  What is the way to manually lock the center 
diff on the early early style UrQ system, where there are two settings: 
none locked, center and rear locked.

Do i go to the rear diff and actuate it from there?  I think there is a 
cable or rod that would do it?
