Re: Source for Carbon Fibre
Hi Mark
Carbon fiber is not inexpensive! First of all, the cloth is measured by
weight, and achieving an eighth inch thickness would require a dozen
layers! For example, a typical cloth would weigh 9 ounces a square yard, be
39 inches wide, a hundredth of an inch thick, and cost $40 a lineal yard!
Then there's the epoxy...
Your best bet is Aircraft Spruce, the largest supplier for homebuilt
aircraft -- they have everything! Aircraft Spruce is located at 225
Airport Circle, Corona, California 91720. Phone: 909-372-9555, Fax:
909-372-0555, Order Dept.: 877-4SPRUCE, Customer Service: 800-861-3192.
Since you seem to be in Tahoe, you should stop by Abaris Training -- they
should be able to either sell you a piece or refer you to a local source.
Abaris is located 5401 Longley Lane, Suite 49, Reno, Nevada 89511. Toll
Free:1-800-638-8441, phone (775) 827-6568, Fax:(775) 827-6599.
Good luck! tj
P.S. Fiberglass is a great material, and wallet friendly!
