stinky a4

The interior of my '98 A4QM Avant has a dirty sweat sock smell these
days that I attribute to the fact I've barely had a window open in weeks
because of harsh and bitterly cold weather: Zero-degree nights in the
mountains and a fair amount of snow and ice (which the A4 handles with
aplomb, of course).  I checked the carpet, floor mats and rear storage
area, and there doesn't seem to be any moisture build-up anywhere.  A
rare warm and sunny Sunday offered an opportunity to open up the car and
air it out, but that doesn't seem to have made much difference.  Next
step would seem to be a deodorizer.  Are those little pine-tree jobs you
hang from your rear-view mirror any good?  Any other recommendations?
