1985 4ks Quattro stalling problem

I have an 85 4ks quat and i have been having some stalling problems at 
low RPM's , more specifically around 1000rpm.  It is a manual but it is 
not a driver shifting problem.  I was wondering if anybody would know 
what the cause is or better yet a solution would be?  Please reply to me 
privately.
