Shuddering Steering Wheel-solution?
Thanks to all those who responded privately to my question. The
consensus seems to be deadlocked at either tie rod ends or
control arm bushings. When looking under the car I noticed the
rubber boot around the passenger side wheel bearing had a nice
gash in it and there was grease along the cut. I don't think this has
anything to do with my steering wheel shuddering when going
downhill or at speeds of around 70-74 mph. My next question is,
are any of the above repairs within the realm of an inexperienced
backyard mechanic? I look through the Bentley at the repair
procedures but they seem littered with special tools. I don't want
to be going out and spending mucho bucks on tools I'll use once
every five years. Has anyone replaced/repaired these items, and if
so, could they give me a walkthrough or point me to a spot where I
could find one? I'm driving a 87.5 Coupe GT (2.3l engine, four
wheel disc brakes, etc.)
