On my recently-purchased 88 5KQ, the brake does not exactly feel hard. The problem is that my previous car, 84 4k, did not have a rock-hard brake pedal either. In effect, I do not know better how a brake pedal on a 5KQ should feel like. I have tested the ABS and it "chatters" fine. The brake fluid level is O.K. Could my problem be the celebrated bomb? How does one test its operation? Or is the master cylinder going bad and sucking air into the braking system. Should I bleed the brakes anyway?
