RE: Subject: RE: 91 200tq Distributor 20v

Thanks. I've heard from another qlister that the tamper proof shield is not
fun to get off. I am replacing the distributor as I was told that the seals
are not replaceable. You mean I can get them?

Thanks Phil. From what I see in Bentley, it involves removing the inlet

manifold in order to get the old distributor out after locking the shaft in

position with VAG 3233. Seems an interesting project? I suppose I just

have to get in there and dig.

Anyone else?

The distributor is held in by a bolt with a smooth protective "anti-tamper"
cover. Remove that cover and it's just a bolt. I think if you lock the
engine in position, then remove the bolt, you can just pull the distributor
like any other audi distributor. Mark the alignment of the rotor to the
body
of the distributor, and then mark the body relative to the engine, and you
can
install the new one in the same position. No BTDT, but ...
Are you replacing the whole distributor, or just the leaking seal?
