... I think that you'll see this example quoted in the encyclopedia under
"Self-fulfilling prophecy" ... :-)
Actually the owner's manual for quattros that have a problem being towed
with 2 wheels on the ground state that if there is no other option that the
outer CV's be disassembled and the stub axles re-installed ... perhaps this
is really what Russ did ...
You are correct though Chris, almost everywhere removal of the half shafts
is discussed it clearly states that rolling a car on the bearings without
the stub axle installed even a few feet is likely to damage the bearings.
