re: 95 Vs. 96 A6

I guess I'm not helping make the decision easier, but there's a '96 A6q
in Holland, Michigan, 37.6k, $20,900 asking. They'll part with it for
$18k, it was in a flood and was repaired by a very reputable quattro
shop (Auto Sports Unlimited). I haven't driven it, but it looks great.
Call Auto Sports at 800.624.3876, Tim VanVliet is their chief quattro
fanatic. If you're still undecided, they also have a modified S6q and a
stock S4q for sale.

I have a buddy who is looking to buy one or the other, sedan. Has a 95
with
45K for about $20K or a 96 with similar mileage for about $23 (prices
pending negotiation). Aside from price, are there significant things he
should be concerned about one vs. the other? Were the head gaskets still
an
issue, as they were on my 93? What about the difscussed transmission
"flare" (this is a slushbox purchase)?

Thanks,

Stuart Friedman
