Yay, I can see the road in 4kq.

Well,
I could see before but on the 87' 4kq which already had the much
needed 9007 conversion with Relays. BUt, I got some CHEAP $12.99 Driving
lights wired in. They are not Incredibly bright (about same as stock) but
I can aim them a tad higher and more in the center with mains just outside
and this gives me a very pleasing High Beam. NOt like my Euros but
livable. I have them mounted behind grille so I could get more light by
moving in front but SO wants them hidden since its her car. I am having
grille clearance problems though so I need to do some trim work before I
can aim them a little higher which I want to do.
Just thought I'd share a Happy though instead of the usual sad
ones I ramble about. :-) Now I'm all ready for the 6-hour trek at night
to Mt Hood in Oregon. No more Deer surprising me.

On a similar note, a couple weeks ago right after the Fog Light
thread I was coming home and Could not even see the road the glare from
so much snow was so bad. I could usually go about 40 if visibility
allowed before the studded 4kq would start fishtailing up hills but on
this stretch of 10 miles or so I couldn't see even at 20. So I turned off
the lights and left just parking lights on. HEY, WOW, I can see. Drove
for 10 minutes without seeing any cars and I could just see the road way
out in front of me. MUCH safer for me. Glad I passed no hiding cops. But
if I had they probaby wouldn't of been able to see to find me with all
those lights flashing. :-)
I need Fogs on that car. The DOT pattern is better with the
9007's but still horrible vertical saturation. Euro's would of been OK in
this stuff from previous experience but FOgs and ONLY fogs would of been
the way to go. And GOOD fogs at that with Amber light. Saw a snow plow
plowing with JUST his Amber Fogs on and it seemed he could see very well.
I think I would go for Clear lensed with the PIAA Iridium or whatever
bulbs that emit amber light. Those are cool. Look white from in front of
car but amber when they reflect off of stuff. Very slick.
