Re:2-4kq's stumbling when cold

The '84 4KQ I got from John Mallick has the same symptoms. He said Audi did
LOTS of things to try to track it down. Think I recall all the ususal -
injectors, cold start valve, etc. I recently changed the ISV, to no avail,
because I had one from the parts car. Based on what it's doing I suspect the
timing advance is not working properly. I have not had time to pull the
distributor and look things over. I've got a spare 4K distributor that I'll
try, plus want to look at this one closely.
This assumption is based on how some of my older U.S. vacuum-advance cars
acted when the advance was wrong. The thing that bugs me with the 4K is that
it's not consistent. Some days it idles OK after warm, others it doesn't. But
the base symptoms do feel like a timing advance failure. The only other thing
I can think of is the fuel distributor and I **really** don't want to find out
that it needs to be replaced. :(

	Later.
