RE: Bose speakers...

I know that I am in the minority on this, but I <gasp> _like_ my Bose
system in my 1990 V8 Quattro.  Compared to other stock systems, it
is bass heavy.  However, I don't find it bass heavy compared to most
modern home systems (with subwoofers).  I think that a lot of people
expect different sound qualities out of their car systems than they do
out of their home systems.  We're all used to car systems that don't
have very much bass response.  I know that my 4ksq sounds _awful_;
it has _no_ bass, and is terribly tinny.  If I get out of my 4ksq and into
the V8, it sounds too bass heavy- but after a few minutes, I readjust,
and it sounds great.

Of course, a lot of this may depend on the type of music one listens
too.  I listen largely to modern rock/alternative, with some more 
electronic tunes thrown in for good measure.  Also, I have found that
the Bose system sounds better the louder it is.  Since I generally
listen to it a little louder than some, I may be getting a better overall
impression than those who keep it down low.
