RE: Bose speakers...

I don't know how to put this politely but Bose still does have a reputation
more than twenty years later: No highs, no lows ... it must be Bose!
They also have a penchant for suing anybody who publishes a critical opinion
about their products ... that said, I'm willing to chance it: Bose speakers
suck the big one, both for listening to music in the home as well as in the
car. Personally, I can't stand the sound of their "custom tuned" Audi setups
and had to turn the bass control down nearly all the way in my ex-girlfriend's
'90 200 in order to put up with it for any length of time ... truly dreadful
and I can't undersand why you would try to repair it rather than replace it.
Surprisingly, I'll admit they don't do too bad of a job in home theatre
installations or possibly other applications where it's not critical to have
fidelity to the music ... other than that, though, I *strongly* recommend they
be avoided, just like you would an S.T.D., a Ford Taurus or paying full list
for parts over the counter at an Audi dealer..
