RE: Do it yourself garages.
I'd thought of starting something like that myself some time back. I think
that you are right, the insurance for a place like that would likely be
astronomical ... unfortunately. The other thing that would be difficult is
keeping tools from walking away. I seem to remember that something that
sounded a lot like that popped up here in the San Jose area, but when I go
by there now the place is closed. IMHO, one of the sadder signs of our
society today ...
It was great being an "Air Force brat" in that respect ... the local base
had what they called a hobby shop ... which had everything from a full
darkroom, to a well instrumented electronics lab, a wood shop and an
automotive shop ... with tools. I wonder if they can even do that on
military bases today ...
... it seems like my garage has become something quite akin to the old hobby
shop though ... all but the darkroom ...
