steering rack & book time...

I changed my rack in the '82 friday night.  Book time on this was 3.5
hours, allowing for goof off time I figure it took me 5.5 hours.  And I
replaced the steering pawl thing too (that bit that goes from the rack
to the tie rods - bright yellow now) which took about 15-20 minutes.

Principal difficulty - the clamp on the column wouldn't come off the
pinion shaft, had to use a dent puller!

Principal stupidity - I didn't think ahead and get a new gasket for the
floor!  So I will have to cut a new one and seal it with rtv, to replace
the interesting duct tape job I did...

I think some of this post is deja vu.  sorry.

gotta go do a complete troubleshoot of my cruise control as per Bentley
and two or three different schematics...
