just one more comment on salvage titles.  in ny they are known as
mv-907a titles and they don't necessarily mean that the car was in any
type of accident.  i have owned more than one 907a car that was a
theft recovery w/ minor,  if any, damage.  the car happened to be
recovered after the underlying insurance company paid out on the
claim.  in ny,  these cars almost always get a 907a title.  [and now
for the audi content...] i frequently see audis of all descriptions in
the rebuildables section [where 907a's are advertised] of the local
car buyers mart.  some have damage,  and some don't.  most of them are
pretty good deals if you are willing to do a little work and put up w/
some hassle in getting the car registered.
