Relay Woes
Help! This stupid reley is starting to drive me nuts. How can something so
simple be so hard.
Okay, I have hi power bulbs in the 200 and decided to wire relays into the
setup.
I wired it as such.
Cut the low and high beam lines under the dash and ran a feed to the relays
from each of the respective beams. Then, ran power from a battery supplied
source to each of the relays. I grounded the relays correctly. Now, I ran
a wire to L and R low and high beam wires from the load posts on the relays.
All the correct wires are going to the correct posts on the relays.
Okay, so everything works great, except my cars computer registers that the
I have burned out headlights. Now I reconnect the low beam wires under the
dash. Still the same problem except now when I turn off the lights the
relays still stay close allowing the lights to stay on. I now disconnect
the wires under the dash again, now I am back to being able to turn off the
lights correctly. Well, finally I discover that the wires just behind the
bulbs and the load connections from the relay need to be clipped so that the
burned out headlight signal on the dash is not always on. Now it never
comes on. I tested it by unpluging one of the lights. I also noticed that
now the radio pops when I turn on the lights or turn on and off the high
beams. What gives with this?
Anyone know how to get my dash l warning light to display properly and to
get rid of the pop?????
Thanx, Shayne.
