RE: Larger wheels screw up quattro?

Wheel diameter or tire diameter? The wheel diameter should not matter at
all.
Its the tire diameter that is the issue.

If you have a tire diameter difference of 2" from front to back in an older
quattro,
say an '87 5KCSTQ and you were to lock the center diff, I would expect a
severe problem. An increase of 2" in diameter would be a 6.3" difference in

rolling distance per revolution. The smaller tire could not keep up. Since
the
diff is locked the car would not move very far or you would break something.

The A4 with the automatic center diff might be OK, but it might start to
lock the
center diff because of the difference in tire rpm.

None of this applies, of course, if ALL of the tires are changed to a larger
size.
Then only the speedometer is wrong.
