Type 44 tailight questions...

Just to be different (as well as to avoid paying through the nose for a
replacement light panel for my trunk lid, which was broken when somebody tried
to break into my trunk!), I decided to change the look of my '89 200q's back
end similar to that of the early 4k and at the same time, convert to an
internal, electric trunk release instead of a key-operated one.

To that end, I've mounted the license plate directly to the trunk lid and am
installing a pair of 4000 license plate lights to match. I'm also covering up
the opening for the trunk lock and have swapped the inner and outer taillights
with those on my mother's '87 5k wagon, which have a slightly darker red and
orange color as well as no recess across the middle of the lenses. They're
also a bit thicker at the bottom, so they don't quite match the profile of the
trunk lid but I think they look quite nice regardless.

My question is, are there any all-red lights I also could use for this purpose
other than those Audi installed on the V8? I assume that because I only need
the inner and outer tailights and not the center panel, which are different
between the U.S. and europe due because of differences in license plate
dimensions, I can use taillights from any Type 44 Audi sold anywhere in the
world ... right?

If anyone knows where I can lay my hands on a set, please drop me a note...
