UrQ Rolled Fenders Completed
So, I'm back to the list after my ordeal of moving back to Colorado from
NYC. The day before I was due to leave some bozo hit my UrQ in the left
rear taillight while parked, hard enough to cause a paint chip on the
upper part of the door right above the door handle where the body was
forced to flex and contact the door. The insurance company is still
estimating, but I'm scared they're going to total it, with 200,000 miles
on the odo.
I had the rear fenders rolled right after the acident, using Rapidparts
and their bolt on fender roller. I spent 3 hours and removed all the
undercoating behind the rear lips. The paint did split badly and there
are very very tiny indentations right above the wheel wells. If the car
is to be fixed after this accident it doesn't matter to me as the paint
and ripples will be dealt with. If you're doing it on a pristine car,
beware. I followed every piece of advise out there and the result would
have devastated me, if the accident hadn't already numbed me.
Anyone have any advise on how to fight a totaling? I figure $4000 -$5000
to fix the crunch, which is getting mighty close to the blue book value.
Anyone have an '84 or later rear valence and bumper cover they want to
sell me? Any help or comments appreciated. Please respond directly.
