Scott Hey from Greece,
I am using Bridgestone S-02 Potenza at the front and plain S-02 at the rear
on my RS2.
The reason I am using the Potenza at the front only is because the two plain
S-02 that used to be at the front were recked.
The driver's side one after a very hard encounter with a hole on the road
and the co-driver's side was warped at another instant following a very hard
braking from around 260 Kph.
The two new front Potenzas have warped too but unfortunately at 400 US$ per
tyre in Greece I do not intend to change them again for at least the next
six months.
The tyres handle really well on the dry and when the road is really wet but
tend to slip quite unexpectadly when the road tarmac is only slightly wet or
when the quality of the tarmac is not so rough.
They also wear very quickly. I have covered 20.000 Km with the plain S-02
and they approach the end of their useful life as a performance tyre. They
may have another 10.000 Km but only with a lot of care taken when driven
beyond this stage. (Tail happy RS2 otherwise)
My opinion is that the S-02 is a very good tyre but VERY sensative at bumps
hitting and brake warping. (My RS2 is equipped with the uprated brakes
originating from the 911 GT2 and PAGID competition pads, so maybe the
standard brakes will not be stressing the tyres so much). Additionaly the
S-02 wears out quickly, at least in my hands, and on top it costs a fortune
in Greece.
As a conclusion my next tyre will not be a Bridgestone S-02. I will have to
resort to my tyre's specialist for proposals.
Hope this helps
